Hello ZZR1100 owners. Are you fed up with poor performance from your front brakes? Do you find yourself accelerating vividly towards hazards those four piston Tokico callipers just don’t have the power to avoid? I did with my ZZR. All evolutions of the D series machine had the same callipers, and despite some cosmetic enhancements and improvement in engine aspiration, the brakes were never upgraded right through to the D9.
Well there is a cost effective and aesthetically pleasing solution. As fate would have it, Suzuki decided to make a fork mount on their GSXR1000K1 that had the exact same (and rare) mounting bolt pitch for its front calliper mounts. The lateral offset was almost identical to the ZZR1100 arrangement too. All that is required to fit the GSXR1000K1 front callipers straight onto to your OEM ZZR1100 forks is a change of fork mount diameter and a small lateral realignment of the calliper. So the AIOLOS brake adaptor kit was born.
This kit comprises four stainless steel adaptor sleeves that serve to reduce the internal diameter of the fork mount to the required dimension for the smaller mounting bolts on the GSXR calliper, and provide the lateral realignment to establish the calliper and the brake rotor on parallel centrelines. We supply it with A4 stainless socket cap (allen key fitting) mounting bolts and washers. You just source a pair of GSXR1000K1 or K2 front brake callipers (the US ebay has the best supply of good condition ones) and install the adaptor kit and callipers straight onto your existing forks. You keep all your original master cylinder, hoses, banjos and banjo bolts and re-plumb the replacement callipers straight onto the existing system. These callipers are the same units, albeit with different mounting centres, as the early Hayabusa and ZX12Rs. Finally a pair of front brakes for your ZZR1100 that are as good as the rest of the bike.
